Guildford Makerspace is a community-owned workshop and creative hub coming to Guildford. We're building a place where anyone can learn, make, tinker, and collaborate — and we need you to help us make it happen.
A makerspace is a community-run, collaborative workspace — part workshop, part studio, part lab. It's a place where members share access to tools, equipment, and knowledge that most people couldn't afford or fit in their home. Whether you want to build a piece of furniture, design a circuit board, sew your own clothes, or learn to code, a makerspace gives you the space, the tools, and the community to do it.
Makerspaces are places of learning, creativity, and connection. No prior experience is needed — just curiosity. Members teach each other, run workshops, and collaborate on projects big and small.
Access professional-grade equipment you couldn't otherwise afford or house.
Workshops, skill shares, and peer-to-peer teaching — all welcome.
Member-run and community-governed, not corporate. Everyone has a voice.
Beginners, hobbyists, professionals and students — all welcome here.
We're planning a fully-equipped space with dedicated areas for a wide range of crafts, technologies, and skills. Here's a taste of what we're working towards:
Arduino, Raspberry Pi, soldering stations, oscilloscopes, and a full electronics bench. Build anything from simple sensors to complex devices.
FDM and resin 3D printers, laser cutters and engravers. Bring your digital designs into the physical world.
Hand tools, power tools, a lathe, and a welding station. Build furniture, sculptures, and anything in between.
Industrial sewing machines, an embroidery machine, fabric tools, and craft supplies for all skill levels.
A dedicated area for software projects, game dev, hardware builds, networking, and collaborative hacking nights.
Guildford Makerspace is in its very early stages — which means now is the perfect time to get involved and help shape what it becomes. We're looking for passionate people to help us set up, run, and grow this space.
Help define the direction of the space — governance, values, what we build first.
Got a skill to share? We'd love people to run sessions in electronics, woodwork, coding, crafts, and more.
Help with events, communications, social media, fundraising, and keeping things running smoothly.
Not ready to commit yet? Register your interest so we can keep you in the loop as we grow.
Whether you want to help set things up, run workshops, join the committee, or simply register your interest — we'd love to hear from you. Drop us a message and we'll be in touch.
